Help Care for Studland's Special Landscape

Join the National Trust at Studland for a family-friendly conservation day. Help protect heathland and dune habitats through hands-on scrub clearance while learning about local wildlife and nature recovery

Young volunteers wearing protective gloves stand amongst flowering gorse on Purbeck heathland during a family conservation activity, helping to manage scrub and support local wildlife habitats.

As part of the Purbeck Goes Wild programme, families will have the opportunity to get hands-on with real conservation work, helping to clear gorse and young pine from important heathland and dune habitats.

Removing scrub helps protect rare plants and wildlife that depend on open heathland, while also reducing wildfire risk and supporting the long-term health of this nationally important landscape.

Guided by National Trust staff, participants for this Family Scrub Bashing day,  will learn how to safely use simple hand tools and discover why habitat management plays such a vital role in nature recovery.

This family-friendly session offers a rewarding opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn new skills and make a positive contribution to one of Dorset’s most treasured natural environments.
