To cut and lay 231m of hedgerow and to encourage hedgerow trees at a 14ha farm in the Marshwood Vale. This will enrich and link a network of biodiverse habitats in a managed way as part of the wider Marshwood Vale area and River Char catchment. The existing hedge contains plenty of Elm at a height (c.10m) at which it is likely to be affected by Dutch Elm Disease as evidenced in lots of nearby hedges. Consequently, the time is ripe for laying and elm lays well into a thick hedge, ideal as wildlife habitat.
