Dorset 's Country Parks

A visit to a country park is a great value day out and they often have activities and facilities for the whole family. There are plenty of country parks in Dorset to choose from with peaceful forests, open meadows, riverside walks and lake views – perfect for somewhere to escape the hustle and bustle of life or spend time as a family enjoying the additional activities on offer.

Many of Dorset’s country parks welcome dogs on leads, so you can enjoy a wildlife walk with your faithful friend at your side. Some offer cafes or take-away kiosks where you can re-fuel before carrying on your walk.

Moors Valley Country Park and Forest

At an impressive 1000 acres, Moors Valley is Dorset’s largest park, with plenty of cycle and walking trails, play trail and play areas, tree-top trail, narrow-gauge railway, golf course, fishing lake and lots more. 

Durlston Country Park and Nature Reserve

Durlston offers stunning coastal views, walking trails, superb geology and is a popular place for wildlife lovers – the cliff top path is one of the best places to spot dolphins and seabirds. The Great Globe is one of the largest stone spheres in the world.

Upton Country Park

With plenty of large open spaces, a formal walled garden, splash fountain, walking routes, dog training areas and play area, this water-side country park also has bird hides to watch wildlife on the edge of the impressive Hole’s Bay.

Lodmoor Country Park

Just a short stroll from Weymouth, Lodmoor Country Park offers a play area, model railway, pitch and putt and green gym, within walking distance of RSPB Lodmoor Nature Reserve.
