Lit up in the gentle evening dusk, it’s a chance to unwind, appreciate the beautiful River Frome and make the most of the light evenings before Autumn truly takes hold!
Relax and enjoy the last of the light evenings with us at River Droplet in Frampton. This will be a celebratory closing event for River Droplet, which will be taken down on 2nd October.
As the sun sets, we will celebrate the twilight together, listening out for the ‘dusk chorus’ of birds. And as the daylight fades, our lights will make the beautiful chandelier of bottled chalk-stream water, created by artist Amanda Moore, take on a magical glow.
This is a free event, no booking needed, just turn up around 6pm and stay as long or as little as you like. Free hot drinks and Dorset Apple Cake!
Millenium Green, Frampton
We are delighted to announce that a new temporary art installation has been created at the Millennium Green, Frampton (just north of Dorchester) and will be open until 1st October 2024.
‘River Droplet’ shines a light on the unique character of chalk streams in Dorset and invites you all to sit and enjoy the peaceful riverside location in Frampton village.
Created by artist Lorna Rees and architect Amanda Moore, the installation consists of 500 bottles of water taken from the adjacent River Frome. The chalky bed of the river can be seen by the sediment in each of the bottles.
Chalk streams are perfect for the production of watercress, which is grown locally and shipped around the UK and across the world. The ‘River Droplet’ installation will be brought to life with events and recordings that explore the story of watercress production and what makes chalk streams so special.
You can take a seat within the installation and listen to the recordings, join in the events or simply sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the glorious River Frome!
‘River Droplet’ has been commissioned by the Dorset National Landscape team as the first installation for the Sitting Spaces project. Sitting Spaces aims to encourage a wider range of people to visit the countryside by creating temporary structures to sit and enjoy the special qualities of the area.

If you are travelling by car, there is plenty of on-road parking on Dorchester road next to the Millennium Green. Please respect local residents and park safely along the main road and DO NOT park in the village hall carpark, which is in constant use with users.
The Millennium Green is short grass and fairly even but can get a little damp in the evening – so you might want to wear trainers or boots.
Wrap up warm so you can enjoy the lights as dusk turns to dark.
If staying til dark, a torch or light on your phone will help when leaving as there are no street lights in Frampton village!
