Explore Dorset National Landscape

Whether you like windswept hilltops, empty beaches or intimate valleys, there’s lots of places to explore this winter!

At this time of year catching the sun at its glorious, colourful best is so much easier, with the sun rising at a very comfortable 8am and setting with the fiery reds witnessed any time after 4pm.

The Jurassic Coast provides a wonderful backdrop to these winter sunsets. Promontories such as the Cobb in Lyme Regis, the pier in West Bay and Peveril Point in Swanage are great places to sit and watch the winter sun drop (with cafes nearby for hot drinks an added advantage!)

Or if you want to really blow away the cobwebs – head to high ground for fantastic views, great walks and LOTS of fresh air! Our top recommendations for lofty views are below, or have a look at the map to see other great places to explore in the Dorset National Landscape.
