Could you help people enjoy nature?

We are looking for Dorset based freelancers, community groups or organisations that want to deliver a regular activity in the heart of communities in Dorset to help adults learn new skills, meet others and be active. In particular, we focus on older people, people living with long term health conditions and in carers roles. We want to build these activities throughout throughout 2022 so if you’ve got an idea then we want to hear from you .

A group that came together to Sing and Stroll

“I particularly like the ability to take risks which is a novelty with these kinds of projects. Starting something that was so different was a risk, but the SiN team were keen to try it out and take risks which has helped to start Sing & Stroll”

A few things to think about

  • Keep it local: sessions must be based in Dorset Council area
  • Keep it safe: ideally outdoors or in well ventilated spaces
  • Keep it interesting: pique people’s interest
  • Keep it lasting: build a sociable and supportive group
  • Keep it inclusive: reach communities that may have the most to gain
A group that came together for outdoor poetry

“I cannot thank SiN enough for a transformative two years, as a human being and in my professional development as a creative facilitator. The opportunities have been open and generous to deliver workshops using a combination of poetry and nature, which has proved to be powerful/ gentle/ healing and surprising – outdoors the effects have been very fast.
Something can happen in just a short space of time, something that has a lasting and profound effect on people’s everyday lives, and seeing/being part of SiN makes me realise how urgent and necessary SiN’s work is to provide nature-based activity in Dorset, and beyond”.
