The Stepping into Nature project, led by the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has been awarded support using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England for a new social engagement project called Your Seasons of Stories.
Your Season of Stories will gather seasonal memories, traditions and stories from people living in Dorset, living with a long term health condition or are in a caring role to co-design a ‘creative resource’ which will help spark connection to nature and others for improved wellbeing. The seasonal material will be gathered through interactive sessions using professional poets, storytellers and artists. Once the resources are created they will be widely shared, along with short inspirational films about how to create your own seasonal material, to encourage and inspire individuals, pairs or groups to create their own seasonal stories.
There is currently two lead artists, a poet, Sarah Acton and a storyteller, Martin Maudsley, on board. The project is now looking for 2 more visual artists to co-design and facilitate online and in person sessions and to create their own commissioned artwork to be used in a creative resource.
This project is a great opportunity to bring people together to create something positive and unique whilst giving a boost to peoples creative confidence, self-esteem and mood.
