To understand the extent (baseline) of species and habitats across the South Dorset Ridgeway Farmer Cluster, which will then inform a Blueprint for a nature recovery strategy for the area. This application is to fund the first stage of the cluster project – winter bird surveys. The project will inform the extent and variety of birds that winter in the South Dorset Ridgeway and the habitats they use. In turn this will grow understanding of how valuable winter habitats are. Through the advice given the project will lead to an understanding of the value of the Defra Natural Asset approach and facilitate well targeted E.L.M applications in the future.
