Thank you to everyone who entered. We received nearly 400 photos as you showed us through images the landscapes you love best!
As part of the 60th anniversary celebrations, we are keen to find out what YOU think is so special about the AONB landscape and we were blown away by the stunning images entered into our Photographic Competition which captured the essence of the Dorset AONB.
Your photos showcased not only the places special to you, but also the ways in which you enjoy the amazing landscape around you – be it at work, rest or play. From horse drawn logging to kayaking, early morning walks in swirling mist, vibrant spring bluebells and dancing butterflies, through to autumn rambles with friends and four legged companions. We loved looking through them all!
Judging of Open category entries has now taken place and the photographs have been painstakingly whittled down to a Top 60 by the judging panel.
If your photo has been selected we will be in touch with you directly. This means that your photo(s) will be exhibited in our Celebrating 60 Years Photo Exhibition and may also be selected for print in the Dorset Magazine 2021 Calendar.
By then we will also have more detail on the exhibitions which were originally planned for 12-31 August (Durlston Castle) and Dorset County Hospital (Sept – Jan). Although they are likely to be postponed due to Covid-19 both venues are still very keen to host the exhibition when it safe to do so.
Due to the impact of Covid-19 we have decided to extend the deadline for our Youth category entrants until 1st November 2020. We are particularly interested to see what young people feel is special about the Dorset landscape and have a special prize of a Kodak PixPro camera for our winning Youth entry, plus two runners up prizes of a £75 voucher each for photographic equipment. Some of the images may also be included in the Celebrating 60 Years exhibition we are planning for later on in the year.
