A limited-edition book to celebrate spring and help people engage with nature, indoors or out, is being offered for free by the Stepping into Nature project.
The book ‘Seasons of Stories: Spring’ is a celebration of the changes that occur in nature during spring. It is a collection of words, images and traditions designed to prompt memory, conversation, and reflection inside and out.
Stepping into Nature helps connect adults in Dorset with their local landscape, wildlife, culture and history and previously created Seasons of Stories: Autumn which was very popular, with over 450 people receiving a copy.

‘Our previous ‘Seasons of Stories Autumn’ book received amazing feedback. People were impressed by the quality, design, beautiful imagery and thought-provoking text. As many of our usual group activities have to be put on hold we were fortunate that we were able to fund the creation of another book using our National Lottery Community Funding. This book is another corker and we are so proud to be able to release ‘Seasons of Stories: Spring’.
The book has been created by the original core team of Martin Maudsley, (storyteller), Sarah Acton (poet), Julie Hammon and Steph Aburrow, (Stepping into Nature project team) and Spike Golding, (designer) along with thoughts from the local community.

“We love coming up with the content for this book but this time we wanted to share the voice of others too. When creating the book, we invited people to comment on what spring means to them, personally. We received many lovely replies that are now threaded throughout the book and have been key to creating ‘Seasons of Stories: Spring’.
To receive a book, please provide your name and address via stepin2nature@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk or call Steph on 01305 224788 or Jules on 01305 224785 so we can post the book to you for free. Like last time, we would love to know why you want a book so include a short sentence or two to let us know! There is a limited number of books available and will be allocated on first come first serve basis. Alternatively, you can view the book online or download and print.
To help us create more books in the future we are welcoming donations online or over the phone. Unfortunately we are unable to accept donations via the post.
