Top tips on making transport plans

  • When booking a coach, check if the vehicle is accessible (if needed), has seat belts, if the drivers are first aid trained and DBS checked, and what their cancellation policy is in case of extreme weather. You may also want to check when you need to pay deposit and full balance.
  • Check if the driver has been to the site already and let them know of any road restriction and parking arrangements if not.
  • Get the phone number of your driver in case you need to contact them on the day and share it with a few people in your group in case you can’t make the trip.
  • Do a head thorough count before you set off and before the bus leaves site at the end of the day! Have a tick-off list of names to make it easier.
  • If there are families with children in your group, check if there is enough space for prams and buggies.
