Introducing All Ways Out

All Ways Out is our newly refreshed platform designed to help people connect with nature in simple, accessible ways. Building on Picnic in the Parks, it now offers an even wider range of inspiring activities to enjoy at home or outdoors.

Originally created to help people stay connected with nature, the site has now evolved to better reflect the wide range of activities, landscapes, and creative experiences that Dorset has to offer. The new name and design emphasise the many ways people can explore, enjoy, and benefit from nature — whether outdoors or from the comfort of home.

'Creative Activities' includes creative writing ideas inspired by nature.

A platform for everyone

Nature has the power to heal, connect and inspire, yet accessing it isn’t always easy. All Ways Out showcases a wide variety of ways people can experience nature at their own pace and in their own way. From creative activities and simple wellbeing ideas to immersive audio‑visual journeys through Dorset’s landscapes, the platform brings the outdoors closer to everyone.

The platform offers ideas, tasters and inspiration for anyone looking to connect with the landscape in a way that best suits them. It’s designed for a broad audience, including carers, people living with long term health conditions, those seeking mental health support, people new to nature, those wanting to get more active, social prescribers, and our wonderful Nature Buddies.

'Get Active' offers visitors a range of ideas to enjoy the outdoors

What's new?

The refreshed platform introduces revamped zones with clearer, more intuitive names, making it easier for visitors to find the type of activities that interest them. This includes two brand‑new zones — Noticing Nature and Your Dorset – created in response to how people are using the site and what they told us they wanted more of.

Updated zones include:

  • Local Tales – inspiring stories and cultural connections to the landscape
  • Explore from Home – immersive audio and visual journeys
  • Creative Activities – guided artistic and creative prompts
  • Get Active – accessible self guided walks and activities
  • Noticing Nature – nature guides and observation activities

Visitors will also benefit from improved search and filter options, more concise activity descriptions, updated accessibility features including alt‑text, and easier navigation  through new map‑based back buttons.

Your Dorset

A particularly exciting addition is Your Dorset, a dedicated zone where people can submit their own stories. We warmly encourage you to share reflections on your favourite places in the county and the ways Dorset’s landscapes have supported your wellbeing. You can submit your stories to stepin2nature@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk

“We are incredibly proud to launch All Ways Out.
