Dunes after Dusk
Discover the incredible wildlife of the dunes as the sun sets, nightjars ‘churring’, bats and maybe even glow worms.
Discover the incredible wildlife of the dunes as the sun sets, nightjars ‘churring’, bats and maybe even glow worms.
Many of us know and love sand dunes as backdrops to the beach we visit, but they are also important wildlife hotspots. Come and discover the sights, sounds and smells of the dunes at dusk as the ‘night shift’ come out to feed.
We hope to hear the iconic “churring” of secretive Nightjars, various species of bats and if we are lucky we may spot a few glow worms. The walk is led by the National Trust who are restoring these dunes and heathland as part of the Dynamic Dunescapes project.
Suitable for All (14+)
Notes: Route will follow unmade paths, soft sand, beaches and in places is uneven.
Distance approx 1.5 miles.
Event will finish before the last chain ferry operates for return journeys to Poole.
Knoll Beach, Studland
