Festival of Archaeology comes to Dorset 19 July - 13 August 2025

Dorset Museum & Art Gallery is proud to join a county-wide programme of events and activities for the annual Festival of Archaeology, led by the Council for British Archaeology.

This year’s theme, Archaeology and Wellbeing, highlights how connecting with the past can nourish the present—whether through nature, learning, creativity or community.

From Iron Age hillforts to Roman villas and Viking treasures, Dorset’s rich archaeological landscape offers countless ways to connect, reflect and explore.

Full programme details available via participating organisations and local museums.

For national listings and resources, the Council for British Archaeology also hosts a central hub on the Festival of Archaeology website.

Both are great places to stay informed and plan your visits.
