Join archaeologist Steve Wallis on hike to two of north Dorset’s lesser known hillforts, Hod and Hambledon Hill
Whilst only a mile apart, Hambledon Hill and Hod Hill are two very different hillforts with individual historic stories of their own. On this hike of approximately 7-8 miles, we will head up to explore and learn more about their histories, from ancient sites, Roman forts and even Civil Wars.
The views from these spectacular settings across the Blackmore Vale can be stunning on clear days. Our return route will take us along the North Dorset Trailway which follows the route of the former Dorset and Somerset Railway.
Suitable for All (14+)
Reasonable fitness required due to route involving hills and distance.
NB: Route will follow unmade paths and fields and in some places is uneven. Includes some large hills and steep ascents and descents.
