Grant Fund

The Nature Buddies Community Access Fund supports local people to carry out capital access improvements and taster activity sessions to create more inclusive opportunities for people to explore the Dorset National Landscape.

The Nature Buddies Community Access Fund supports local people and organisations to make capital access improvements that create more inclusive opportunities for everyone to explore the Dorset National Landscape. The fund can be used for projects such as replacing stiles or gates, installing handrails and sit spots, or enhancing access through research, partnership development, and training.

New for this round, the criteria have been expanded to include funding for taster activities and pilot sessions that help people connect with nature. If you have an idea for a new nature‑based activity or session, this could be a great opportunity to bring it to life.

We have a total of £15,000 to distribute, with typical grant awards likely to be around £2,000 – £4000 and we can fund up to 75% of costs for voluntary groups/charities.

Applications are currently open with a submission deadline at the end of February. Full details of the Fund and application form are available here

The Nature Buddies Network is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible by National Lottery players. With funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and DEFRA supported funding we have been able to launch the Community Access Fund as part of the Nature Buddies Network.
