A volunteer-run beach access scheme in West Bay is receiving well-deserved recognition after helping more people enjoy Dorset’s coastline.
The initiative, recently highlighted by ITV News, shows how practical improvements and dedicated volunteers can help remove barriers to outdoor access and support more people to experience the benefits of spending time by, and in, the sea.
As part of its commitment to improving access to nature for all, Dorset National Landscape is funding new sections of essential beach matting through its Access for All funding from Defra.
The investment will help strengthen and expand access provision at West Bay, supporting the ongoing work of volunteers who are making the beach a more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.
